2 Truths Christians Should Think on During Coronavirus Pandemic

Right now its easy to think that the worst thing is going to happen to you. Will you get sick? Will your family get sick? Will you lose your job or going to lose your job? How are you going to pay your bills? What will the future look like? Will you have a place to live, food to eat.  Etc. Etc.

These are all valid questions to be asking and not unreasonable to try and plan for these things.

However these concerns can easily consume and control your mind, heart and emotions. They can cause great anxiety and cripple you from seeing the truth about God's involvement in your life.  I'd like to exhort you to renew your mind with the word of God. To put off worrying about control of your life and put on trusting God with your life.

If you are a Christian and have trusted in the gospel (see below for full explanation), then you can rest assured that God has His eyes and ears on your life right now.

Let me share 2 reasons why you can be confident and secure of this.

Nothing will Separate you From God's Love in Christ Jesus

There are many things that desire to put a wedge between us and God so that we are separated and on our own doing life, but they can not because God controls and rules everything.

Listen to Romans 8:38-39:
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Now go ahead read the verse again below but this time personalize it by putting your name at the beginning of this verse:

_____________ sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Even Covid 19 can not separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord!

Being apart of this pandemic has effected my financial health.  As a self employed contractor, having not worked for about 5 weeks my income has reduced significantly.  I am the sole provider for my wife and kids living in Silicon Valley.  This has lead to stress, worry, and anxiety for sure but it has lead me further to lean on God during this time.

I am happy to report that God has heard our prayers and has taken care of all our financial needs and more.

Regardless of your situation (rich or poor, sick or well), your status remains the same-- You are still under God's love, provision and care for your life because nothing including a virus can not separate you from Him.

When anxiety and worry arises in your life, remember God has you in his grip-you were purchased with the precious blood of Christ.

Cast all your anxieties upon him because he cares for you.

All things are working together for good

This virus has reeked havoc on the entire world.  All walks of life are being effected and great damage has been caused short and long term.  We have lost control of a lot of things.  We can not look back and wonder "what if" or worry and stress about tomorrow, next week or next year.  We have to take each day by seeking God daily to get through each day.

Great damage has been done. Valuable lives have been lost.  Jobs lost.  Plans lost.  Vocations lost. Health lost.  Stability lost.  Job security lost. Houses lost.

The bible makes it clear that ALL THINGS work out for good.

Including bad things like a pandemic. That can sound brash but it is not.

28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[h] for those who are called according to his purpose.

People that do no know Christ now know Christ.  Fear has lead to faith.  Families that were separated because of busy schedules are now together.  Spiritual walks that were shallow are now deep.  God that was called upon occasionally is now cried to everyday.  Control of life that we thought we had we now know God is the one with the control.

Whatever situation you find yourself in (bad or good),  know that it is working out for good for this life and eternity. No one in history who has put their faith, trust and Love on God has been found to be unnoticed by God (see Hebrews 11:1-31).

It is letting go of the mess and believing that God will turn it into our message of his Faithfulness.

The Gospel in 6 points by John Piper (summary below):

  1. God created us for his glory.
  2. Therefore every human should live for God’s glory
  3. Nevertheless, we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory
  4. Therefore we all deserve eternal punishment
  5. Yet, in his great mercy, God sent his only Son Jesus Christ into the world to provide for sinners the way of eternal life.
  6. Therefore eternal life is a free gift to all who will trust in Christ as Lord and Savior and supreme Treasure of their lives.
